Merit Badge Counselor Session for All Adults
We will offer a Merit Badge Counselor Session on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 6:30 PM. Adult leaders will be able to fill out the merit badge counselor application, adult registration form, and turn in Youth Protection certificates. If you have not completed Youth Protection you may complete a live course on Monday night. We will also talk about "How to be a Merit Badge Counselor." Please contact Dave if you plan on participating so we can have enough materials available.
Pathfinding Merit Badge - Historic Merit Badge Workshop
Mike Kuykendall, Neil Ishikawa, and Jon Traum will offer the Pathfinding Merit Badge to all troop members on Monday, October 11, 2010. The workshop will begin at 6:00 PM. This is a Historic Merit Badge and will only be offered in 2010 and must be completed by the end of the year. Please bring pencil and paper.
Popcorn Order Due
All Trails End Popcorn Sales are due on Monday, October 11, 2010. You will be eligible for prizes and earn credits for you Scout Account. Please contact Naomi Mellerski if you have any questions.
Webelos Woods
Scouts and adults that signed up for staff at Webelos Woods are to meet at Camp Pollock on Friday night, October 8th. Please bring a sack dinner for the evening. We will have a cracker barrel, staff training, and a possible movie. If you can only work on Saturday, that is okay we'll see you at Camp Pollock. It will be lots of fun.

Webelos Woods returns on October 9-10, 2010, at Camp Pollock. Chris Ishikawa is looking for adults and Scouts to serve on Staff. Please fill out an application for this great event. Fall Court of Honor: Ice Cream Sundaes!
Our Fall Court of Honor will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 6:30 PM. It promises to be a great Court with lots of awards and recognition. Summer camp, golf, Hig Sierra Trek, Pinnacles, and much more will be on the agenda, plus photos from our summer events. We will follow the program with do it yourself Ice Cream Sundaes. Don't miss it. Parents and families members are encouraged to attend.
Historic Carpentry Merit Badge Workshop
Mark Woosley, Frank Shaw, Don Dier, and Ralph Merrill will be offering Scouts the opportunity to earn the Carpentry Merit Badge. This is a historic merit badge only offered during the centennial year (2010). The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Mark Woosley's house. Please sign up at the Troop Meeting September 13, 2010. A small fee will be collected to help pay for the project that is required as part of the merit badge.
New District Roundtable: September 9, 2010
Come and participate in our New District Roundtable and meet Scout leaders from all over our newly merged district. Also find out the New District name, learn about upcoming district and council activities, and get some great training. We also give out prizes and have lots of fun. Roundtable is held on the second Thursday of each month at the LDS Church at 3001 Wisseman Drive. See you there!
Monterey Trip: Labor Day Weekend
Come join us in beautiful Monterey on the Labor Day Weekend. Troop members may visit the famous and spectacular Monterey Bay Aquarium. Scouts can also earn the Pinnacles National Monument segment of the Rim of the Bay Hike series.

Jamboree Night
Scouts and leaders who have attended any Jamboree are encouraged to bring their patches, photos, and souvenirs to display at the meeting on Monday, Agusut 30, 2010. Set up will begin at 6:00 PM. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM.
Alistair's Eagle Court of Honor
Come and celebrate Alistair F. being presented Scouting's highest award, the rank of Eagle Scout, at a court of honor on Monday, August 23, 2010, at 7:00 PM. Please join Jennifer and Howard, Alistair's parents, as we pay tribute to this great achievement. Refreshments will be served immediately following the Court of Honor.
Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma
The Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma is on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Infineon Raceway. This is a great opportunity to see the official BSA Racecar driven by Scott Dixon, or drivers like Danica Patrick and Dario Franchitti. Scouts and Adults in Uniform can get in free if you wear your uniform and have a free Scout ticket. Please see Maryann Evans if you are interested in participating in this great event.
High Sierra Trek
It's not too late to join this great adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail on August 19-22, 2010. This 25 mile backpacking trip will follow the Pacific Crest Trail and Tahoe-Yosemite Trail between Ebbett's Pass and Carson Pass. If school is already in session you can join the group on August 20, 2010. Please contact Jon Traum for more information.
SMUD PIcnic
Scouts and parents working at the SMUD Picnic should meet at Rancho Seco by 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Please allow time to travel to Rancho Seco. Adults and Scouts should wear red t-shirts. This is your ticket into the park along with your parking pass. The picnic should wrap up at approximately 5:00 PM. Please report to Chris and Zenaida when you check in at the Group Picnic area.
RDO Roundtable: Last District Activity
Come to the final Rio Del Oro District Activity as we say farewell to a great district. Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 7:00 PM, will be our final Roundtable at the Cordova LDS Church on Cordova Lane. Corey Reynold's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Summer Camp Just Around Corner
We will be departing for Camp Royaneh at 7:00 AM on Sunday, July 4, 2010. We will meet at Sequoia School at about 6:30 AM. Please have your paperwork turned in prior to our departure. Medicals, permission slips, and merit badge/program request sheets are due. Have Fun in the Sun at Camp Royaneh.
Troop to Celebrate 4th of July Early
Chris and Dave want to invite everyone over on Friday, July 2nd for an early 4th of July Celebration. We'll have a pot luck. We'll provide the hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Also don't forget your chairs to sit on the lawn and of course bring some fireworks (safe and sane only) for the evenings festivities. Scout Night at the River Cats Game: Saturday, June 19th
Gates will open at 5:00 PM. Chalk talk with a coach and player at 5:20 PM. Parade at 6:05 PM. River Cats vs. Salt Lake City Bees at 7:05 PM. Fireworks after the game. Wear your Scout uniform to participate in the pre-game parade. See you at the Game.
Golf Night: Wednesday, June 16, 2010
Scouts and parents will tee off beginning at 5:00 PM at Bradshaw Golf Center. You don't have to know how to golf to participate. Scouts golf for $6.00 and adults for $8.00. The troop will provide hot dogs. Bring money for drinks to purchase in the pro shop. Please contact Mark Woosley if you have any questions.
Englebright Lake Camp Out
Sign up at the meeting for our trip to Englebright Lake. You'll have the opportunity to either canoe or backpack into the camp ground on the shores of this popular lake. Also check out one of the last covered bridges in the United States. We head for the lake on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Permission Slips are available on this website.
Get Ready for Troop 380's Golf Night
Troop 380 will head for Bradshaw Ranch Golf Course on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Tee times will begin at 5:00 PM. Sign up at the troop meeting for a foursome. One adult must be with each foursome. All family members are welcome to participate. Cost for the round of golf is $6.00 for Scouts and $8.00 for adults. On Monday, June 7th, Scouts will practice golf. Bring your clubs for a practice session at the church. Remember you don't need to know how to golf to participate. We'll help you with clubs and golf balls. See Mark Woosley for assistance.
Summer Court of Honor and Pot Luck - June 14, 2010
Troop 380 will bring in the summer with our annual hot dog feed and pot luck. We will provide hot dogs, drinks, and paper products. We ask that families bring a dessert, salad, or side dish for the hot dog feed. You may want to also bring lawn chairs. It is important that all Scouts and Parents attend our Summer Court of Honor on Monday, June 14, 2010, at 6:30 PM. Awards for the Northern California Jamboree, Scout Expo, Year of Celebration, advancement, and leadership will be presented. See you at the Court of Honor.
Greg B's Eagle Court of Honor
All Scouts and Parents are invited to attend Greg B's Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 6:00 PM, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Eagle Rank is the highest rank that can be earned by a Scout. Only 3-4% of all youth that join the Boy Scouts earn this high honor. Summer Camp Meeting
All Scouts and at least one parent must attend the Pre Summer Camp Meeting on Monday, May 24, 2010, at 7:30 PM. The troop meeting will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the Summer Camp Meeting. Please be prepared to discuss transportation, merit badges, advancement, uniforms, what to bring, and much more. All payments for camp must be complete by the May 17th meeting. Get ready to have fun in the sun at Camp Royaneh! We do have a few spots left.
River Cats Scout Night
Troop 380 will be heading for Raley Field on Saturday, June 19, 2010 for a game featuring the PCL champion River Cats and the Salt Lake Bees. The first pitch will be delivered at 7:05 PM. Group tickets are $12.00 each and are available to all Scouts and family members. Scout Night will feature a pre-game parade around the field, a River Cats Scout Patch, a motivational chalk talk with a player and coach, and fireworks after the game. Play Ball! Historic Scout Expo Coming Soon
Troop 380 will be participating in the Golden Empire Council's 2010 Scout Expo, at Beale Air Force Base, on April 30-May 2, 2010. Highlighting this event will be the Order of the Arrow Call Out ceremony, Flight Line Exhibit, Action Alley, Merit Badge Midway, Awesome Arena Show, Community Showcase, Sub Camp Competition, Fly overs, Interfaith Services, OA Village, Venturing Exhibit, Webelos Academy, Cub Scout Landing Zone,and much more. Sign up as soon as possible. The early bird deadline has past so the fee is now $30.00 per person. We are looking for staff and adult assistance. Dave Ishikawa is the chairperson for this event that will draw over 7,000 scouts and leaders. Mike Kuykendall will serve as Scoutmaster for the weekend. See you at Expo!
Summer Camp Sign Ups
Troop 380 is headed for summer camp at Camp Royaneh during the week of July 4-10, 2010. Camp Royaneh is located near the Russian River near the town of Cazadero. Featuring redwoods, COPE Course, the Diamond R Corral, Mountain Man program, large swimming pool, nature center, outstanding handy craft area, shooting sports, and more this camp is one of Troop 380 favorite destinations. Aquatics Day at CSUS
Sign up for this special day at the California State University Aquatics Center at Lake Natomas. Scouts will gather at the center on Monday, March 29, 2010. Scouts must have qualified for the swimmer classification in order to participate. Sign up at the troop meeting.
Skills Camp Out
All New Scouts are encouraged to participate in the Skills Camp Out on March 20-21, 2010, at Camp Pollock. Scouts will learn about working with Troop 380 gear and how the troop prepares for camping. Sign up at the meeting. Experienced Scouts will report on March 19th for staff development. Cost for the weekend is $12.00.

Elections for candidates for the Order of the Arrow will be held at the Troop Meeting on March 1, 2010. Candidates will be Called Out during a special ceremony at Scout Expo on Friday, April 30, 2010.

If you were inspired by the Olympics, why not sign up for the Family Ski and Snowboard Day at Boreal Ski Resort on Saturday, February 27th. Beginner packages, rentals, and lift tickets are all available for the weekend. Please see Jon Traum if you have any questions. It will be Boy Scout Day at Boreal so you can work on the Snow Sports Merit Badges. All family members are welcome to attend.
Erik Carlson Selected as Silver Beaver
Erik Carlson will be presented the highest honor that can be presented to a volunteer by a council, the Silver Beaver Award. Erik will join numerous Troop 380 Scouters who have received this coveted award (See adult scouters in this website). The presentation will take place at the Golden Empire Council Recognition Dinner on Saturday, February 20, 2010.
BSA Birthday Celebration! Monday, February 8th
Come celebrate the Boy Scouts of America's 100th Anniversary at an old fashioned Birthday Party. Cake and Ice Cream will be served. We will play some great party games and sing Happy Birthday to the BSA. Don't miss the festivities!
Snow Camp Date Rescheduled for March 6-7, 2010
The Snow Camp Out has been reschedule for March 6-7, 2010. The change was made to accommodate the new Family Ski and Snowboard Day Date. We will be preparing for this camp out at the February troop meetings.

The new date for the Family Ski and Snowboard Date is Saturday, February 27, 2010. We will gather at Boreal Ski Resort for their Boy Scout Day. We will have demonstration on Snowboarding, Downhill Skiing, and Nordic Skiing at our meetings on February 1, 8, and 22, 2010.

Family Ski and Snowboard Day Rescheduled
We have rescheduled Family Ski and Snowboard Day for Saturday, January 27, 2010. Because we were so busy during the month of January we wanted more time to prepare and promote the event. Look for snowboard, downhill skiing, and cross country skiing demonstrations at the Troop Meetings in February. Please contact Jon Traum if you have any questions. Bike and Ice Cube Camp Out
Our first camp out of 2010 will be the Bike and Order of the Ice Cube Camp Out. We will bike to Mississippi Bar on Lake Natomas near Folsom. The date of the camp out is January 16-17, 2010. Cost for the weekend is $12.00. Have your bicycle checked out at the meeting on Monday, January 4th, by REI bike technicians for free. Bike checks begin at 5:30 PM.
Troop Open House
Troop 380 will welcome Webelos on Monday, January 11, 2010. The Open House will begin at 7:00 PM. Webelos, leaders, and parents are encouraged to come and check out Troop 380 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Christmas Tree-E-Waste Pick Up
We will be picking up Christmas Trees and E-Waste on Saturday, January 2nd and January 9th. Please meet at Sequoia School at 9:00 AM on both Saturdays. We are in need of pick ups and trailers. Please bring work gloves and wear work clothing. Also wear your Red Troop 380 Hat.
Congratulations Erik Carlson - Silver Beaver
Congratulations to Erik Carlson on being selected as one of the Golden Empire Council's newest Silver Beaver Award recipients. Erik will be presented the highest honor for a council volunteer on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Golden Empire Council Recognition Dinner, at Sacramento State University . White Elephant Party
Troop 380 parents and adult leaders are invited to the White Elephant Party on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the home of Neil and Leslie Ishikawa. Party time is 7:00 PM. Please bring a white elephant gift, a special dish to share, and if you have a special beverage you may want to bring that too. The troop will provide some drinks. Remember this is an adults only event. Please come and meet the parents and leaders of Troop 380.
Bowling Night
Let's meet at the Strikes Bowling Center on Laguna Blvd, in Elk Grove, on Monday, December 28, 2010. The troop will gather at 5:30 PM. Give Chris a call if you did not have the opportunity to sign up or email Dave. Your fee includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza, soda, and a great time. Parents and siblings are welcome.

TWBW Postponed Until January 30, 2010
Due to the wet weather Troop 380 has postponed the TWBW event planned for December 12th. We have reschedule the event for Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Sequoia School, at 10:00 AM. We are still planning the Flag Football Belt Loop activities and Tailgate activities.
E-Waste and Christmas Tree Recycling Project
Troop 380 will be distributing fliers and envelopes on Saturday, December 19, 2009, announcing our E-waste and Christmas Tree pick up project. Scouts will pick up E-Waste and Christmas Trees on Saturday, January 2 and January 9. Please plan on assisting on all the Saturdays.
Winter Court of Honor
Troop 380's annual Winter Court of Honor will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Church. Families are asked to participate in the Dessert Extravaganza following the Court. We will begin at 6:30 PM. The evening will feature the presentation of merit badges, rank, troop leadership, attendance, honor scout, California Capitol March, Mt. St. Helena/Rim of the Bay, and a Wood Badge Beading. All parents and family members are encouraged to attend.
TWBW (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos)
We will host the Cub Scouts in local packs at TWBW at Sequoia School on Saturday, December 12th. Cubs will earn the Flag Football belt loop by participating in this event. We will start at 10:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM with a Tailgate Party. Mark Woosley will be heading up this event. See you there!
Mt. St. Helena Hike
We will hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena on Saturday, December 5, 2009. This is one of the six Rim of the Bay Hikes. Permission slips are available on-line. There is no fee, but you will need to bring a lunch, water, and cash for the ride home (stop at fast food). See Jimmie Garcia for more information. We do need drivers!

Mt. St. Helena Hike
Our final outdoor outing of the year will be the Mt. St. Helena Hike on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Permission slips will be available on the website and at the meeting. This is a Rim of the Bay Hike. Parents are welcome to attend. The Venture Crew is planning an overnighter in conjunction with this hike. Mt. St. Helena is located overlooking the beautiful Napa Valley.
Ted B's Eagle Scout Court of Honor
Help us celebrate Ted B on achieving Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout. Ted's Eagle Court of Honor will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, at 7:00 PM. All Scouts, parents, and leaders are invited. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Congratulations Ted!
Webelos Game Night
We will welcome the Webelos and their parents on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 7:00 PM. Webelos are invited to come and have a good time and join us for refreshments. Parents will meet with the adult leadership to answer questions about the Boy Scout Program. Welcome Webelos and Parents!
Popcorn Sale
Troop 380 Scouts may take orders for Popcorn for a second phase during the month of November. Please pick up a take order brochure at the meeting.
Bodega Bay Camp Out
We will be heading to Bodega Bay on November 7 and 8. This will be our last camp out of the year. The permission slip is available on this website.

California Capitol March Saturday, October 24, 2009
We have over 100 Scouts, leaders, and parents participating in the California Capitol March, on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Raley Field and the State Capitol. We will gather at Raley Field beginning at 5:30 AM to set up. Please wear your Class A Uniform and your Troop 380 hat. Don't forget that you must have these items in order to participate in the opening BIG flag ceremony.
Patrol Leaders' Council Meeting - October 26th
Patrol leaders, leadership, and assistant scoutmasters will meet at 6:30 PM for a Patrol Leaders' Council Meeting. Please bring ideas for upcoming meetings and activities.
Troop ASPL Elections Monday Night, October 26th
The troop will elect a new 2nd Assistant Senior Patrol Leader on Monday, October 26th. Candidates are to meet with Dave at 6:15 PM with your parents. Good luck to our candidates.
ASPL Elections Coming Soon
Scouts wishing to run for Assistant Senior Patrol Leader are to see Dave by the Troop Meeting on Monday, October 19th. The elections will be held on Monday, October 26th. Candidates must have attained the rank of First Class and have both Scoutmaster and parent approval.

Haunted House
Troop 380 will put on a Haunted House on Tuesday, October 29, 2009, at Mather Elementary School. Scouts are asked to wear a costume and help scare the Cub Scouts in the true spirit of Halloween. Contact Mark Woosley if you have any questions.

Tree Planting Project Date Change
Our Tree Planting Project Date has been moved to Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Sequoia School. The Troop will supply pizza and drinks. Please bring shovels and wear work clothing and gloves. We need wheelbarrows and water hoses. Contact Neil Ishikawa.

Tree Planting Project
Join Troop 380 as we say thank you to Sequoia Elementary School. We will be planting trees on the campus on Saturday, October 10, 2009. Sign up at the Troop Meeting for this great service project. Contact Neil Ishikawa for more information.
Fall Court of Honor
Don't miss the Fall Court of Honor on Monday, September 21, 2009, at Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School. Dinner begins at 6:30 PM. The troop is providing Tri-tip, drinks, plates, and plasticware. We are asking families to bring dessert (last name A - L) or salads (last name M - Z). It will be a great program with all the awards and recognition from this summer.
Angel Island Camp Out
Troop 380 will travel to historic Angel Island State Park in San Francisco Bay on the weekend of October 3-4, 2009. We will perform a service project and bike the island.
Magazine Sales Begining
Troop 380 Scouts can now sell magazine subscriptions and earn big credits for their Scout Accounts. Pick up your Magazine Sales information at the meeting. We also have online sales for those far away.
Trails End Popcorn Sales
Scouts can earn money for their Troop Scout Account by participating in the Upcoming Popcorn Sales. Troop 380 will be sponsoring several Site Sales and a Take Order program. Please ask at the next meeting about Popcorn.
SMUD Picnic
Save the Date: Saturday, August 15, 2009. Troop 380 Scouts and Parents will be helping at the annual SMUD Employee Association Picnic at Rancho Seco Park. Sign up to help at the next meeting. Earn credits for your Scout Account.
Yosemite Service Project
Sign ups for the Yosemite Service Project will begin on Monday, July 13th. The dates for the trip will be September 4-7. Cost is $25.00. We have a limited number of spots on this trip. Sign ups are on a first come first serve basis. Drivers are needed and will get priority. The permission slip will be posted in the forms sections soon.
Camp Cherry Valley
We leave for Camp Cherry Valley on Catalina Island at 5:30 AM on Friday, July 17th. Please make sure you have your duffel bags packed correctly for this outstanding trip. We will return on Saturday, July 25th.
