Yosemite Camp Out and Service Project

Troop 380 is headed for our favorite park, Yosemite on September 19-21, 2014. We will have the privilege of staying at a special campsite on the Yosemite Valley floor, away from the crowds. Scouts will participate in hikes, climbing, service project and eat som great food. Please see Paul Keefer for more infomation.

Fall Court of Honor - Monday, September 15, 2014

Our Fall Court of Honor will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. We will begin the program at 6:30 PM. Awards and recognition will be presented for summer camp, Bowron Lakes, merit badges, rank, leadership, and more. Parents are highly encouraged to attend. Most of the scouts will be receiving awards. Refreshments will be served at the end of the program.

Run for Ovarian Cancer - Sunday, September 14, 2014

The Run for Ovarian Cancer will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Troop 380 will lend a hand by participating in the support of this special event. Kim Perry-Reed is gathering names to help at the Shriner's Hospital, at 45th and X Streets, at 7:20 AM. The project is pre-approved for service hours, besides you will be working on a great cause.

No Troop Meeting on Labor Day, September 1st

In observance of Labor Day the troop will not be meeting on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2014. Have a nice holiday.

Yosemite Service Project - September 19-21, 2014

We will be participating in a service project in Yosemite Valley on the weekend of September 19-21, 2014. Paul Keefer has hiking, climbing and some great food planned for the weekend. Sign up at the Troop Meeting.

Fall Court of Honor - September 15, 2015

It has been a busy summer for Troop 380. We will be presenting awards and recognition at our Fall Court of Honor to be held on Monday, Spetember 15, 2014. Patches and badges will be presented for rank, merit badges, summer camp, golf, and Bowron Lakes. Don't miss the program. Parents are expected to be at the Court of Honor to see their scouts presented awards and honors. We will start at 6:30 PM because of the number of presentations to be made.

Troop Parent Meeting - August 26, 2014

Our next Troop Parent Meeting will be very important to all adults wishing to help make our troop successful. We will be discussing the new troop calendar for 2015. Adults will be asked to volunteer to take a leaership role in our upcoming calendar. Parents and leaders will be paired up with youth leadership to help make arrangements for the 2015 activities planned by the Patrol Leaders' Council. Please attenda and support your son and Troop 380. The meetings are held at the Atonement Lutheran Church next to our regular meeting place at 7:00 PM on the last Tuesday of each month.

Scout Night at the River Cats

Scouts are invited to Scout Night with the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field on Saturday, August 16, 2014.  Uniformed Scouts may participate in the on field parade before the game, listen to a coaches chalk talk, watch the River Cats game, enjoy scout promotion activities between innings and watch the fireworks after the game.  Don't miss this fun-filled night at Raley Field.

Troop and Crew Calendar Planning Meeting

Troop and Crew 380 Leadership will meet on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church at 6:00 PM to plan our 2015 program calendar. Please wear your Class A uniform and bring $2.00 for pizza and drinks. Patrol Leaders are to bring their suggestions from the August 4th Troop Meeting.

Eagle Court of Honor - August 11, 2014

Come celebrate as we present the highest honor in Scouting, the rank of Eagle Scout, to Dajion Jacobs, on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 7:00 PM. We will meet at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. All scouts and parents are invited to attend.

Golf Night: Wednesday, August 6, 2014

Troop 380 will gather for its annual Golf Night at Bradshaw Ranch Golf Course on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. We will meet at 5:00 PM. Sign up at the Troop Meeting. Fees include golf, hot dogs, and a lot of fun. See Joseph Jacobs for details.

Eagle Scout Service Project: July 19-20, 2014

Come out and assist Alexander M. with his Eagle Scout Service Project at the Cordova Baptist Church on Saturday, July 19th. Work will begin at 8:30 AM at the 10527 Coloma Road location. Please contact Alexander for more information. The project may continue on Sunday if work is not completed on Saturday.

Camp Makualla

We leave for Camp Makualla in Oregon, on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10:30 PM from the Sacramento Amtrak Station. We are looking forward to a great experience on Cresent Lake and Crater Lake National Park. Please make sure you paperwork (Medical, permission slips, and lunch program forms) are turned in asap. All fees should be paid at this time.

Eagle Scout Projects

We have two Eagle Scout service projects coming up. Matthew M. is planning a project at O.W. Erlewine School on June 21 & 22. We will meet beginning at 7:00 AM on each day. Matthew needs helpers to bring tools, wheelbarrows, and wear work clothing. Alexander M. is planning on working on his project the weekend of July 19 & 20, at Cordova Church of Christ. Please plan on helping your fellow scouts on their trail to Eagle.

Summer Court of Honor - Monday, June 16, 2014

All Scouts, parents, and leaders are invited to attend the Summer Court of Honor on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 6:00 PM. The troop will be providing hot dogs, beverages, and papergoods. We ask that families bring a dish to share based on your Scout's patrol. Eagles and Falcons bring a Salad. Sharks and Panthers bring a Side Dish. Minecraft bring a Dessert. All others bring you choice. It is also suggested you bring a chair or blanket.

Rancho Seco Camp Out - June 6-8, 2014

Troop 380's next camp out will be to Rancho Seco Park. Scouts will work on advancement, cooking, hiking, and canoeing. Please sign up by the June 2, 2014 Patrol Meeting.

Patrol Meeting - June 2, 2014

Scouts will meet in Patrols after Charlie Potter's Eagle Court of Honor. We will plan the Rancho Seco Trip Menu and talk about future plans.

Two Eagle Court of Honors

Troop 380 will host two Eagle Scout Court of Honors for its newest Eagles, Ian and Charlie. Ian's court will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 4:30 PM. Charlie's will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 7:00 PM. Both Court of Honors will be held at the Emmmanuel Baptist Church. All Scouts and parents are invited to attend. Please support our newest Eagles.

Troop Parent Meeting, Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Our troop committee meets on the last Tuesday of each month. The Troop Committee is responsible for supporting the troop and scouts. All parents and leaders are highly encouraged to attend these meetings. Discussions range from fund raising, equipment, fund raising, and troop policy. The Troop Parent Meeting is held at the Atonement Lutheran Church at 7:00 PM. Our next meeting ins on Tuesday, May 27th. Please come and support your son and the troop.

Cemetery Service Projects

Troop 380 has two cemetery service projects planned for the Memorial Day Weekend. On May 23rd at 5:00 PM, Scouts will gather at the Old City Cemetery on Broadway to adorn gravesites with U.S. Flags. On Saturday, May 24th and May 26th the Scouts will meet at the Fair Oaks Cemetery to assist with flags, seating, and clean up. Both projects are approved for service hours. Summer Camp Meeting - May 19th

It is very important that all Scouts and parents of Scouts attending camp participate in the Pre-Summer Camp Meeting on Monday, May 19, 2014. We will start the meeting shortly following the opening of the regular troop meeting at 7:25 PM. We will discuss required forms, medicals, fees, advancement, travel plans and leadership. Brannan Island State Park Camp Out

The troop will head to the delta for a camp out at Brannan Island State Park on May 16-18, 2014.  Scouts will canoe, play capture the flag, and hike the delta near Rio Vista.  Sign up at the Troop Meeting.

Mother and Scout Canoe Day

As part of the Mother's Day weekend the Scouts will be taking their moms out on Lake Natomas on Saturday, May 10, 2014. We will gather at Natomas Flatt at 10:00 AM. The ASMs will provide lunch. Sign up at the Troop Meeting.

Sacramento Republic FC Scout Night

Troop 380 has been asked to do the Flag Ceremony at the Sacramento Republic FC Game on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Hughes Stadium. We've sold over 100 tickets for the game. It will be a great evening of soccer. Contact me for more information.

Spring Camporee

"A Pirates Life for Me," is the theme for the 2014 Capital City District Spring Camporee to be held the weekend of April 25-27, at New Hogan Reservoir, near Valley Springs. The weekend will feature patrol competition, cooking contest, and the Order of the Arrow Call Out. Cost for the weekend is $15.00.

Aquatics Day

Aquatics Day will be held at the Sacramento State Aquatics Center at Lake Natomas on Monday, April 14th. The cost of $30.00 for scouts and adult participants. Please see Floyd Brown for details.

Skills Camp Out Rescheduled

The Skills Camp Out has been rescheduled for the weekend of April 11-13, at Rancho Seco Park. Please fill out permission slips at the Troop Meeting. See Mike Kuykendall for details.

Mission Peak Hike - April 12

Our next Rim of the Bay Hike will be to the top of Mission Peak near Fremont. This hike features a spectacular view of the South Bay. Please see Kim Perry-Reed and Fred S. for more information.

Skills Camp Out - March 28-30

Troop 380's next camp out will be our annual Skills Camp Out at Rancho Seco Park. New Scouts will learn from experienced scouts how to pack, camp, cook, and more at this special outing. Our Canada bound scouts will practice with our canoes. Micheal Kuykendall is in charge of this camp out.

Evan's Eagle Court of Honor

We will honor Evan F. on Monday, March 24 at a special Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Evan will be presented Scouting's highest award at a court of honor at the church at 7:00 PM. Please join us as we congratulate him on this well deserved honor. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Stockton Thunder Scout Night

Troop 380 will attend the Stockton Thunder hockey team Scout Night on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Stockton Arena. Tickets are $20.00 which includes a ticket to the lower levels seating, a hot dog, drink, patch, and a hat. Can't beat that! This will be a fun night. Scouts wishing to go can be part of the family car pool. Please sign up by the February 24th meeting.

Troop Parent Meeting

Don't forget to attend our monthly Troop Parent Meeting. This is a great opportunity for parents to support our Scouts and troop. We meet at the Atonement Lutheran Church next to the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Kiefer Blvd. The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month. The February meeting will be held on February 25th at 7:00 PM. The March 25th meeting will be mandatory for all parents. See you at the meeting!

Klondike Derby

The Capital City District Camporee in the snow, Klondike Derby will be held at Maris Creek Camp Ground on the weekend of February 21-23, 2014.  Scouts will take on the snow and other troops in the district in snow activities including sledge and snowshoe races.  Please see Charles Potter for more information.

Snow Camp Out

The troop is headed for Donner Summit and the Castle Peak area for  a weekend in the snow.  Scouts will snowshoe with their backpacks to the Peter Grubb Hut near the summit on the Presidents' Weekend, February 15-17, 2014.  Paul Keefer will be leading this trip.

Let's Go Climbing

ASM Paul Keefer will be offering a climbing series on Friday, January 31, 2014 and on Saturday, February 8, 2014. The February 8th session will be held at the Well at California State University. Please see Paul for more information.

Golden Empire Council Recognition Dinner

Please join us at the annual Golden Empire Council Dinner to be held at California State University, Sacramento on Saturday, February 8, 2014. This year Mac Weir will be honored with the presentation of the coveted Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor presented to a volunteer at the council level. The dinner will be held at the CSUS Student Union. Please let Chris know if you would like to attend.

Troop Parent Meeting

All parents are encouraged to attend our monthly meeting of the troop committee. The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 7:00 PM, at the Atonement Lutheran Church (right next door to the Baptist Church).

University of Scouting

Scout leaders should sign up to be at the University of Scouting on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Woodland High School This day long supplemental training has classes for everyone. Sign up at www.gec-bsa.org. Wei Hsieh is arranging for car pools.

Grover Hot Springs Camp Out

The troop will be camping at Grover Hot Springs State Park near Markleeville in Alpine County. Looks like the snow won't be on the ground, but we'll be ready for cold temperatures. We'll do a service project and jump into the hot springs. See you at my house on Saturday morning at 7:00 AM.

Troop Open House

We want to invite any potential new Boy Scouts to our meeting on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 7:00 PM. We encourage parents to attend since we will be presenting an orientation to summer camp. See you at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Christmas Tree Project is Closed

Thank you for supporting Troop 380. We were very successful in collecting trees this year. We have wrapped up our project. See you next year.
