Stockton Thunder Scout Night - March 16, 2013

Troop 380 will travel to Stockton Arena on the night of March 16, 2013 for ice hockey game. It's Scout Night and you get a game ticket, hot dog, soda, and a Stockton Thunder Scout Night patch for $16.00. Sign up by our March 4th meeting. Family members are invited to come along.

Aquatics Day at CSUS - March 25, 2013

Scouts have the opportunity to take advantage of the facilities at the California State University Aquatics Center on Monday, March 25, 2013. Scouts need to have the swimmers classification from summer camp. Please see Floyd Brown for more information on this day long event. The cost for the day is $25.00 and scouts must fill out a release.

Skills Camp Out and Spring Court of Honor

Our March activity will take us to Camp Nauvoo, the Golden Empire Council's newest property, near Placerville. This camp will serve as the new training center and Cub Scout resident camp for our council in the near future. We will host our Skills Camp Out on the weekend of March 22-24, 2013. We have a few new Scouts joining the troop and we will teach them the skills to be a successful Scout. Neil Ishikawa will head up the skills camp out. On Sunday, March 24th we are inviting the parents to attend the Spring Court of Honor at Camp Nauvoo before we return home. The Scouts will prepare lunch at 1:30 PM and will follow with our Spring Awards. Awards and Recognition include University of Scouting, Den Chief Training, Klondike Derby, and Bowling Night, plus leadership, rank and merit badges. This will be a great opportunity to visit the camp and have lunch with the scouts. The troop will be picking up the cost of the lunch, but you must sign up. We will arrange for car pools. The camp is less than 45 minutes from our meeting place.

Troop Parent Meeting - Tuesday, February 26, 2013

All parents and leaders are asked to attend the Troop Parent Meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. We will be discussing some important issues regarding the future of Troop 380. We will discuss upcoming events, Friends of Scouting, Eagle projects, adult leadership, troop organization, fund raising policies, and much more. Please plan on attending.

Klondike Derby

The Capital City District Camporee, Klondike Derby, will take place on the weekend of February 22-24, 2013. We will rendezvous at Martis Creek Lake, near Truckee on a Army of Corp of Engineers site. We have been prepping for over a month for this event and is should be loads of fun. Michael Kuykendall has been getting the troop ready for the competition and snow camping. Golden Empire Council Dinner - February 9, 2013

Join the dedicated Scouters of the Golden Empire Council on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Red Lion Woodlake Inn for the annual Council Dinner. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Silver Beaver Award, the council's highest volunteer award. Klondike Derby

The Capital City District is hosting its annual camporee in the snow, at Martis Creek Lake, near Truckee, on February 22-24, 2013. Join in on the competition with the troop. Contact Michael Kuykendall for more information.

Troop 380 is heading for the Sierra Nevada on January 26 & 27, 2013. With snow shoes on our feet we will head toward the Peter Grubb Hut near Donner Summit. We will meet at my house at 7:00 AM on Saturday. Make sure you gear is checked out and ready to go.

Christmas Tree Recycling Project

Troop 380 will pick up Christmas Trees in the Rosemont and Mather areas during the holiday season. Scouts will deliver fliers announcing how to get your tree picked up on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Trees will be picked up on Saturday, December 29, 2012, and Saturday, January 5, 2013. Please contact Troop 380 at sm-380@comcast.net if you would like more information. Family Bowling Night

Troop 380 will be headed for Country Club Lanes on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 6:00 PM for their annual Bowling Night. Scouts will bowl for $5.00, parents and siblings bowl for $12.00. The fee includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, drinks, and a lot of fun. Sign up at the troop meeting by December 17th.

Winter Court of Honor: Monday, December 10, 2012

Our annual Winter Court of Honor will take place on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Rancho Cordova City Hall, American River Room, at 6:15 PM. Awards and recognition will be presented for Scout Expo, Mt. Wittenberg, Pinnacles, merit badges, rank, Venturing, attendance, and Honor Scout. Santa will be visiting with special gifts for all Scouts who have followed the Scout Oath and Law. Dinner will include chicken, pasta, salad, rolls, drinks, and desserts. Scouts eat for free and adults are $7.00. Siblings are $5.00.

Mt. Wittenberg Hike Postponed - New Date: December 8th

Due to the wet weather we have postponed the Mt. Wittenberg Hike. The new date will be on Saturday, December 8, 2012. This Rim of the Bay Hike is the shortest of the hikes in the series. Winter Court of Honor: December 10, 2012

The Winter Court of Honor will be held at the Rancho Cordova City Hall (2729 Prospect Park Drive, Rancho Cordova) on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 6:15 PM. The troop invites everyone for dinner. Scouts will eat for free. Siblings under 10 are $5.00 and adults are $7.00. The menu will include chicken, pasta, salad, and rolls. If you plan on attending, please register by the December 3rd Troop Meeting. The evening will feature awards and recognition, dinner, a special guest with a white beard, and a special drawing. This will be a very special evening so don't miss it. If you were a good scout this year you may even receive a gift from our special guest.

Monterey Trip: November 10-12, 2012

Troop 380 will travel to Monterey on the Veteran's Day weekend, November 10-12, 2012. Scouts and adults will have the opportunity to visit the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sign up at the troop meeting.

Troop Open House; November 5, 2012

Troop 380 will host its annual Open House on Monday, November 5th at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. We are inviting all potential Scouts to attend and find out about our program. The program will begin at 6:30 PM.

Scouting for Food: November 3, 2012

Scouting for Food will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012. This is our annual community service project in which we collect non-perishable foods. We ask that all family members get involved. We will begin at 8:30 AM at the Save Mart Shopping Center and work until 3:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate.

Angel Island Trip: October 13-14, 2012

Our October camp out will take the troop to Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. Scouts have the option of riding their bikes or hiking to the service camp. Angel Island is rich in history, considered the Ellis Island of the West Coast, this one time military fort and immigration station is not a state park. We will trailer our bikes and backpacks to the town of Tiburon and ride a ferry to the island. We will perform a service project and hike the island. There are spectacular views of San Francisco and the bay area cities. The cost for the trip is $20.00 which include the ferry ride to the island and food. Troop 380 has partnered with EWaste for Good to help the environment and earn money for the Troop. This company will pick up E-waste and give a credit to our troop. Just go on line and make sure you click Boy Scout Troop 380 to help out the troop. The website is at http://ewaste4good.com.

Magazine Sale in Progress

Our annual Magazine Sale in now in progress. Scouts earn 50% of their total sales. Scouts will receive credits to their Scout Accounts to be use for summer camp, National Jamboree, or future high adventures. The deadline for sales is September 24, 2012.

Leader Specific Training: August 25, 2012

Adults wishing to get an introductory training class on the Scouting program should sign up for Leader Specifc Training on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The course will be held at the LDS Church on Wisseman Drive, from 8:00 to 5:00 PM. This course is for potential assistant scoutmasters, committee members, and other leaders who want to help the troop grow and be successful. Registration is on line at www.gec-bsa.org. Mother and Scout Raft Trip: August 18, 2012

Okay mothers of Scouts, its time to get wet on the American River. Troop 380 Scouts and their mother, grandmother, aunt, or significant female adult are invited to participate in the annual raft trip down the river. Troop 380 has made arrangements to rent rafts and will float from Sunrise to River Bend Park. Sign up as soon as possible to reserve your spot. See Sherri and Peter Brown for details.

SMUD Picnic: August 11, 2012

Troop 380 has been asked to help host the SMUD Employee Association Picnic at Rancho Seco Park on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The Troop will provide set up,food, drinks, cooks, music, game operations, parking lot supervision, break down and clean up at the annual event. Scouts and parents are encouraged to participate and earn credits for their Scout Accounts. Workers should arrive by 8:00 AM. Clean up and events will end at 5:00 PM. All scouts and adults should wear a red Troop 380 t-shirt. See you at Rancho Seco.

Mini Trek - August 3-5, 2012

Our annual mini-trek will be held on the weekend of August 3-5, 2012 on the Pacific Crest Trail. Scouts will hike from near Donner Summit to Barker Pass. This is a great way to start your backpacking experience if you are a new or inexperienced backpacker. Jon Traum is leading the hike and is a great backpacker and you'll learn a lot. There are some great views of the Sierra Nevada from the PCT, including Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake, Devil's Peak, Squaw Valley and much more. Don't miss this opportunity. See Jon Traum for more details. Golf Night - August 1, 2012

Troop 380's annual Golf Night will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Bradshaw Ranch Golf Center. We will all tee off with a shotgun start at 6:00 PM. All Golfers should arrive by 5:30 PM at the latest. We will have a practice night at the Troop Meeting on Monday, July 23, 2012. Bring your clubs, but if you don't have any that is okay. I have clubs for most and golf balls too. You may want to borrow a putter from a friend or relative. The fee for Scouts is just $5.00 which includes a hot dog dinner. You'll need some cash to purchase a drink in the pro shop. Sign up at the Troop Meeting. Foursomes will be assigned when you sign up. Dress for the evening is red Troop 380 T-shirts. Troop Parent Meeting - Tuesday, July 31, 2012

All parents and adult leaders are invited to attend the Troop Parent Meetings. The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month, unless announced otherwise. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 7:30 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. We meet on the second floor of the church's business building. Please contact Zenaida Kamine, Committee Chairperson if you have any questions about the Troop Parent Meetings. It is a great way to get involved. We will be discussing our upcoming Troop Calendar Planning Meeting, SMUD Picnic, and future activities for Troop 380. See you there. Assistant Scoutmasters will meet at 6:30 PM before the meeting.

Camp Out at Raley Field

Scouts will have the opportunity to camp out at Raley Field, the home of the Sacramento River Cats on Friday, July 13, 2012. Tickets are now available for this special evening. See Paul Keefer if you need more information. Price includes; ticket to the River Cats Game, overnight camping at Raley Field, and breakfast. Sounds like lots of fun!

Troop Parent Meeting

Special Troop Meeting: Monday, June 25, 2012

We will have a special troop meeting on Monday, June 25th at the home of Frank, Sally and Grayden Shaw. We will have a presentation on shooting safety. This will help all Scouts better understand shooting sports and prepare them for one of the activities at the upcoming Scout Expo in September.

Court of Honor Tonight: Monday, June 18, 2012

We will see everyone at 6:30 PM for our Summer Court of Honor. Picnic dinner and all families are invited. A special presentation of the Ner Tamid Jewish Award will be made.

Summer Camps Almost Here

Troop 380 will be attending two summer camps this summer. We will be traveling to Camp Buffalo Bill near Yellowstone National Park on June 20 - July 3. We will actually be at Camp Buffalo Bill on June 24-30. The troop will visit Grand Tetons National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole, Cody, and the Buffalo Bill Museum.

On July 15-21, 2012, the troop will be attending Camp Winton at Bear River Reservoir. We do have one opening for this camping experience so please see me asap if you would like to go to summer camp.

Remember you must have your medical forms in as soon as possible.

Scout Expo 2012 Registration

Scout Expo 2012 is only four months away. This will be the biggest event in Golden Empire Council history. The location for this historic event is Beale Air Force Base on September 28-30, 2012. Approximately 7,000 - 8,000 Scouts and leaders will be attending this event. The program will feature climbing walls, bmx bicycles, shooting ranges, military displays, an amazing arena show, ceremonies, interfaith services, merit badge midway and much more. Registration is critical because the military required a security clearance on on participants. Please let us know asap if you plan on being part of this huge event.

Two Eagle Scout Court of Honors - Three Eagle Scouts

Troop 380 will be presenting three Eagle Scout Awards at two Eagle Court of Honors. Angel Echevarria and Travers Hopkins will be presented Scouting's highest award on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. The ceremonies will begin at 7:00 PM. Jamie Brown will be presented his Eagle Scout Award on Friday, June 8, 2012, at the First Covenant Church of Sacramento. Starting time is 6:32 PM. Jamie will also presented his religious award, God and Country Four Star award. All Scouts and parents are invited and encouraged to attend these activities. Congratulations to Troop 380 newest Eagles!

Xtreme Scout Expo 2012 Sign Up

The Early Bird deadline for Scout Expo 2012 is just around the corner. Please sign up to participate in this Golden Empire Council historic event at Beale Air Force Base on September 28-30, 2012. Just place a $5.00 deposit to hold your spot on the Troop Participation List. You will save $5.00 by signing up before the deadline. You won't want to miss this great event.

Big Basin Camp Out

On June 1-3, 2012, Troop 380 will travel to Big Basin State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Big Basin was the first state park in California. It is a beautiful park in a magnificent Redwood Grove. In addition to car camping, scouts may participate in a backpack trip over the weekend as an option. Jason Scholl and Jacob M. are heading up this trip. Fair Oaks Cemetery Service Project

Troop 380 has been invited to participate in the annual Fair Oaks Cemetery Memorial Day Weekend Services. Scouts will assist with flags, set up and clean up. Scouts can earn service credits. The dates for the project are Saturday, May 26, 2012 and Monday, May 28, 2012. Please see Elizabeth Ruygt or Ian C. for more information about the project.

Bodega Bay Camp Out

Our May adventure will take us to Bodega Bay on the weekend of May 18-20, 2012. We will camp at Doran Beach Regional Park near Bodega Bay. It is right on the beach so get out the sunscreen, chapstick, and sunglasses. The fee for the weekend is $18.00. Please see Wei Hsieh for details.

Troop 380 will attend this GYC event this weekend. The Jamborall will be held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock. It should be a great weekend. We will leave at 5:00 PM from our house.

Leader Specific Training - Saturday, April 21, 2012

Every Scout deserves a trained leader.  The Capital City District will be conducting Leaders Specific Training on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the LDS Church on 51st and Dover.  This training will help you become a trained leader.  All parents should attend.  Parents wishing to become an Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Member, or other Venturing or Cub program leaders should attend this event.  Please contact Sharon Jonas at 916-366-8966 for more information.  Troop 380 wants 100% of our registered adults to be trained leaders.

Capital City and Sierra Gateway Spring Camporee: April 27-29, 2012

The Spring Camporee will be held at Gibson Ranch on the weekend of April 27-29, 2012. The camporee features patrol competition and a special campfire including the Order of the Arrow Call Out. This year's theme is "Zombie Apocalypse." It promises to be lost of fun. Permission slips are available on our troop website. Cost for the weekend is $20.00, which includes food and t-shirt.

Roundtable; Thursday, April 12, 2012

Each month on the second Thursday of the month, the Capital City District hosts Roundtable. This special gathering of unit and district leaders helps everyone extend their knowledge of scouting and learn about upcoming district and council events. Roundtable is held at the LDS Church at 3001 Wisseman Drive. Starting time is always 7:30 PM. Scouters usually wear their uniforms. It is a great way to meet the other leaders in our district. This month's Roundtable will be held on Thursday, April 12th. Featured this month will be Johnie Pennington on the subject of camping. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Spring Merit Badges Begin on April 9th

Our Spring Merit Badge program begins on Monday, April 9, 2012. All Scouts should arrive at 6:30 PM. Please bring paper and pen. If you have the merit badge book it is very helpful. Joseph Jacobs will be offering Citizenship in the Community; Sherri Brown will be offering Emergency Preparedness; Charles Potter will be offering Law; and Frank Shaw will be offering Coin Collecting. Also all New Scouts will be able to work on Tenderfoot thru First Class Rank Advancement with Neil Ishikawa.

Aquatics Day: Monday, April 2, 2012

Floyd Brown has arranged for the Troop to participate in Aquatics Day at the CSU Aquatics Center on Lake Natomas.  Scouts will be able to row, kayak, and canoe on the lake.  The fee for the day is $20.00 and permission slips are available on the Troop website.    The date of the activity is Monday, April 2, 2012.  

Skills Camp Out: March 30-April 1, 2012

Our annual Skills Camp Out will take place at the Golden Empire Council's newest property, Camp Nauvoo. Camp Nauvoo is located near Placerville and was a LDS camp. It will be converted to a Cub Scout resident camp, training facility, and weekend camp spot for troops , crews, and packs. Troop 380 experienced scouts will travel to the Skills Camp Out on Friday night, meeting at Sequoia School at 5:30 PM. New Scouts will meet on Saturday, at 7:00 AM for travel to Camp Nauvoo. Scouts will return on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at 2:00 PM. The troop will return to Dave's house at 9054 Tokay Lane to unload equipment. Please wear your class A uniform and bring quality rain gear. Troop Parent Meeting: Tuesday, March 27, 2012

All parents and adult leaders are encouraged to come out and support the troop by participating in the Troop Parent Meeting. The Troop Committee meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM. Zenaida Kamine is our Troop Committee Chairperson. It is a great opportunity to meet the other parents and leaders of Troop 380 We meet in the building next to the chapel on the second floor. The Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops training will be offered on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at the Church. This training is for Scouts wishing to be in a leadership position in the troop. This includes Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Scribe, Quartermaster, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Librarian, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, Instructor, and Historian. Scouts wishing to hold these positions in the future should take this course. Please let Dave know if you are attending. Wear you class A Uniform. Bring a notebook and pen. The training is free.

Aquatics Day: April 2, 2012

Troop 380 will participate in the Aquatics Day at the California State University, Sacramento Aquatics Center at Lake Natomas. Spring Court of Honor - Monday, March 19, 2012

Troop and Crew 380 will conduct its Spring Court of Honor on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 6:30 PM. Awards and recognition will be presented for the Order of the Ice Cube, University of Scouting, Klondike Derby, USS Hornet, and Wood Badge. Parents are also encouraged to come to find out how they can support the Boy Scout program through Friends of Scouting. We will also have a dessert contest following the Court of Honor. Camp Cards Available March 12, 2012

Troop 380 will be selling Camp Cards beginning March 12, 2012. Michelle Tyler will be leading our next fund raising event. Camp Cards sell for $5.00 and are good for discounts at Extreme Pizza, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Wing Stop (thanks Denise), Smog N Go, Subway, Kings Store, and Sacramento River Cats. Scouts earn 50% and can apply credits to summer camp, Jamboree, Scout Expo, or other scouts activities.

Scout Sunday Services - Sunday, march 4, 2012

The Emmanuel Baptist Church has invited Troop 380 to take part in their Church Services on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Please consider supporting the church since it provides so much for our troop. Following the services the church will host a pot luck luncheon. Please bring a dish to share. Also we ask if you have a Class A uniform that you wear it to the services.

Troop Parent Meeting - Tuesday, February 28, 2012

All parents are invited to attend the Troop Parent Meeting on the last Tuesday of each month. Zenaida Kamine, Committee Chairperson, encourages are parents to support the troop and your Scout by being part of the Troop Committee. All parents are considered members of the Troop Committee. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 7:30 PM. We are also having a special meeting for all parents of Scouts traveling to Yellowstone this summer at 6:30 PM. Scout Day at Boreal Ski Resort

Scouts can try their hand (or should I say feet) at skiing or snowboarding on Saturday, February 25th, at Boreal Ski Resort. The resort will open their runs for Scout Day and discounted prices on lift tickets, rentals, and lessons. It is a wonderful way of trying out these winter sports. Camp Winton Deposit is Due

Scouts planning on attending Camp Winton during the summer of 2012 should make a deposit of $50.00 to hold your spot. Troop 380 will be attending Camp Winton on July 15-21, 2012. Camp Winton is located on beautiful Bear River Reservoir on Highway 88, East of Jackson. Camp Winton offers and outstanding waterfront and activities. We have selected Camp Winton as our primary camp for the summer. Total cost of the week stay is $310.00. Please see Dave or Johnie for more information.

Klondike Derby: February 17-19, 2012

The Capital City District Klondike Derby will be held at Cisco Grove on the weekend of February 17-19, 2012. We will prepare for the Klondike at the troop meetings prior to the event. Get your snowshoes ready and dress warm. See Michael Kuykendall for details. $15.00 for food.

Golden Empire Council Dinner: Saturday, February 11, 2012

Troop 380 Scouters, Michael Kuykendall and Joanie Stretars will be presented the highest honor to be presented a volunteer at the Golden Empire Council Dinner, on Saturday, Feburay 11, 2012. The dinner will be at the California State University, Sacramento Student Union Ballroom at 5:45 PM. Please consider attending to support these two outstanding scouters. Klondike Derby - February 17-19, 2012

Troop 380 will attend the Klondike Derby at Cisco Grove on the weekend of February 17-19, 2012. It should be a great weekend for fun in the snow. We will race in the great sledge race, snow shoe races, and a lot more winter fun. Permission Slips are available on the troop website. Cost for the weekend is $15.00. National Jamboree 2013

Are you interested in finding out more about the biggest event for the Boy Scouts of America? If you would like to be part of the 2013 National Jamboree at the Summit, West Virginia you should attend the National Jamboree Rally at Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 9:00 AM. Find out about the two options (tour and Jamboree or Jamboree only), finances, financial assistance, being part of a National Jamboree Troop and a lot more. Parents should attend with there scouts. Class A Uniforms are encouraged. Please see me if you have any questions.

Scout Expo Planning Committee Meeting

If you would like to be part of the Planning Team for the 2012 Scout Expo you are invited to attend the Scout Expo Committee Meeting on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Camp Pollock. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM. Class A uniforms are encouraged.

University of Scouting

The Golden Empire Council will be hosting University of Scouting at my school on Saturday, January 21, 2012. This all day training offers a huge choice of training topics for adult leaders. The $20.00 registration fee covers the cost of 6 classes, a patch, and lunch. Don't miss out. Register by Monday, January 16th or register at the door. Remember if you register at the door you might not get lunch or your first choice of classes. Register on the council website at www.gec-bsa.org.

Klondike Derby Rescheduled

The Capital City/Sierra Gateway District Klondike Derby has been postponed until the weekend of February 17-19, 2012. The Klondike organizing committee wanted to make sure there was plenty of snow for the event. Please see Mike Kuykendall for more information about this great event.

Klondike Derby

Mike Kuykendall will lead the troop at the Capital City/Sierra Gateway Klondike Derby at Cisco Grove on the weekend of January 27-29, 2012.  We hope we get some snow!  This camporee in the snow has a tropical theme.  Permission slips are available on the website.  

Grover Hot Springs Camp Out

Troop 380 will travel to Grover Hot Springs State Park on January 14-15, 2012. Grover Hot Springs is near Markleeville on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. Scouts will have the opportunity to earn the Order of the Ice Cube in the cool pool at the hot springs and then warm up in the hot springs pool. See Floyd Brown for details. Winter Merit Badges Offerings

Bob Williamson has announced the new Winter Merit Badges. Beginning with the January 9th meeting the following merit badges will be offered: Citizenship in the Nation with Bob Williamson and Jim Buell; Personal Fitness with Jon Traum; Insect Study with Moorea Richardson; and Electronics with Joseph Jacobs. Merit Badge sessions begin at 6:30 PM. The dates for the merit badges sessions are January 9 and 23, February 6 and 13, and March 5 and 12.

Troop 380 will pick up your E-Waste and Christmas Tree

Our Troop will pick up your E-waste and/or Christmas Tree on Saturday, December 31st or Saturday, January 7th. Give us a call at 363-0380 and leave your information and we will schedule a pick up. Make sure you leave your street address, phone number, and the date you would like you tree or e-waste picked up. We are accepting a $10.00 donation to help scouts attend camp.

Mike Kuykendall and Joanie Stretars Honored with Silver Beaver

Joanie Stretars and Michael Kuykendall have been selected to receive the coveted Silver Beaver Award at the Golden Empire Council Dinner on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at California State University.  Please join everyone in congratulating Joanie and Michael on being honored with the highest award presented by a council for a volunteer.  If you plan on attending the Council Dinner, please let Chris Ishikawa know if you would like to register.  

White Elephant Party

The Troop's Annual Parent and Leader White Elephant Party will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2012, at the home of Peter and Sherri Brown, at 7:00 PM. All parents are encouraged to attend. It is a great time. Bring a white elephant gift, your favorite appetizer, and if you have special beverage you like, bring that along too. The committee will provide some beverages. Bowling Night: December 26th

The Troop's annual bowling night will be on Monday, December 26th, at Strikes Bowling Center in Elk Grove. We will meet at 5:30 PM and start bowling at 6:00 PM sharp. Cost is $9.00 which includes: 90 minuts of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, soda, game tokens, and lots of fun. All family members are welcome. See Dajion or Mary Brown for more information.

Mt. Tamalpais Hike Rescheduled

We have rescheduled the Mt. Tamalpais Hike for Saturday, December 18, 2011. We will gather a Sequoia School at 7:30 AM and head for Mt. Tamalpais. Once again bring water, day pack, a hearty lunch, chapstick, raingear, sunscreen, and a good attitude. We will return home at about 5:30 PM. See Charles Potter for details. Placerville Camp Service Project

Troop 380 Scouts and Adults can help out at the newest Golden Empire Council near Placerville on Saturday, December 17th. We'll gather at 8:30 AM and travel up to the camp and work for two hours. We'll stop on the way home at a fast food establishment and be home by 2:00 PM. See Dave at the meeting for details.

Bowling Night - December 26th

Troop 380 is hosting its annual Bowling Night at Strikes in Elk Grove, on Monday, December 26th, at 6:00 PM. The fee for the evening is $9.00, which includes, shoes, one and a half hours of bowling, game tokens, pizza, and soda. That is quite a deal. Sign up for your lane at the Troop Meeting. We will practice bowling on Monday, December 19th at the Troop Meeting.

Capital City District Holiday Roundtable - December 8, 2011

Join with the wonderful Scouters from throughout the Capital City District on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at 7:30 PM. Roundtable is held at the LDS Church on Wisseman Drive off of Folsom Blvd. Ralph Merrill and Norm Parker will be presenting a special session on "Hobbies." Bring a dessert to share for the holiday season. Troop 380 usually has a large contingent of Scouters participating in Roundtable so you won't be alone.
